Tame American's wedding sampler thing is still... I'm working on a coping strategy but every time I think I've done a fix-it something else gets in the way. First, the flowers were crashing into the tree branches... so added four stitches... found out I couldn't do the adjustments in my head... attacked spare chart... found bird was the same size as the flower... spent intense internet session to find a bird that fits an 8 x 8 grid...

Yes.

In samplers (at least until the mid 18th C in England) and in folk art (East Mediterranean) size is completely arbitrary. It is totally okay to have a dog that is bigger than your house (a reasonably well-known sampler). Likewise, large garish birds (sometimes peacocks) that stand on top of much smaller flowers (typically the rectangular carnation type) and trees of life (general bottle brush).
