Tell me again, why do I need one of these things?

I'm not sure where all that bad karma came from, but I woke up on Tuesday and then the arm on my glasses sheered off and then my porridge exploded. So, I am waiting on a second arm and wearing my spare glasses with the chips to the lenses and an aged perscription. Seesh, has that really been four years? Suffice to say, no squinting at cross-stitch charts et al for me. Which is why I am experimenting with bargello - less chart reading and canvas has big holes. Except the bit where I am using 18 count canvas and copying patterns out of a book.

With regard slightly better karma, mummyfrog bought home a bag of small cut pieces including about half a dozen little bits of 18ct canvas. Not stitching was making my fingers itch. And the creativity bug has resurfaced and now I have a hundred and one plans for various 6in square bits of aida, evenweave etc. And some of it is very etc. Plans have charts in them, so see above and you will see the problem.

I want my opperational eyes back, please. Thanks, universe.
  • Oh, man, I hope you get your glasses back in working order soon. Can't be without the eyes!! Eep.
    • Currently, they're back with me and held together with crazy glue and other strange polymer type substances. And the angle is really weird and I'm now surgically attached with my grandmother's spectacle cord. Mostly to stop them hitting the floor when the arm goes again.

I should just be glad that I don't need to emulate my boss with his sticking plaster bedecked pair. So, I've been stitching, thankgod.

    I've had days like that.

Come to think of it, in the words of Cesperanza's immortal "Eggroll," I've had years like that. :)

Also, vis a vis brane? There's an interesting article stream over on NPR on traumatic brain injury and US Vets: I thought you might be interested in it given your brain's general inability to behave like a grown up. :) Thread over here!
    • *proffers zebra*

Bang on with the brane and its lovely quirks. Some sentences take me several attempts to say, which is worrying and increasingly frequent. /branevent

would you like your zebra with sparkles?
  • Hahah! I've had days like that where my spectacles practically explode from my face because they've had it with me. and yes it landed right in the oatmeal!

Hope you get your sight back and no headaches!
    • The headaches have been behaving over the past two days (hello, famous last words!!!) which is a bit of a silver lining. I have had many porridge related disasters especially when overcompensating for too little milk or new and interesting flavourings.
